We are pleased to announce this new Single Cell Biology conference. This meeting will provide a forum for biologists, methods developers and computational modellers interested in understanding biological variation at the single cell level.

Understanding heterogeneity is central to modern biology, as new high resolution methods are revealing the previously underappreciated role for biological variability in many areas of biomedical importance. Cell-to-cell variation plays a role in many key areas of biology, including differentiation and development, and cancer. There is pervasive heterogeneity emerging in many immune cells, in the pathogens, and in host-pathogen interactions. Furthermore, understanding ‘stemness’ or pluripotency is hampered by a lack of homogeneity in the relevant cell populations.

This year’s meeting will discuss the biological insights gained from imaging and single cell genomics, particularly in the areas of immunology and haematology. We will also focus on methods, including computational approaches.
